New One Page Update to the Adult and Adolescent HIV/AIDS Treatment Guidelines

A new onepage update has been added to the "Guidelines for the Use of Antiretroviral Agents in HIV-1-Infected Adults and Adolescents", on the AIDSinfo Web site. These recommendations include that:

 

  1. A regimen containing tenofovir+didanosine + NNRTI should not be used as an initial regimen in antiretroviral treatment-naïve patients.
  2. lopinavir/ritonavir can be taken as a single daily dose in treatment-naïve patients.

Community Member Sought for HIV Treatment Guidelines Panel

The Panel on Clinical Practices for Treatment of HIV Infection is seeking nominations for a community representative to serve a 3-year term on their Adult Guidelines Panel. The ideal individual will have knowledge and involvement in issues related to HIV treatment education/advocacy, or clinical/public policy initiatives related to treatment in HIV-infected adults. NIAID Funds Center for HIV/AIDS Vaccine Immunology (CHAVI)

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), announced funding plans to establish the Center for HIV/AIDS Vaccine Immunology (CHAVI). This center could receive more that $300 million over a seven-year span.
